A couple of old Gibsons
Let's see if my picture posting skills works.
I picked up the two amps from a local guy. They were his dad's and had been in a closet since 1974. I need to get some better pics, and I will when I finish their "refreshing" - they need it...pretty grungy on the inside!
The one on the left is a 1959 (according to the Jensens serial #) Gibson GA-88S Stereo amp. It needs a bit of work. It was wired up with a few added speakers. It has a head with 2 amps (both a supposed to be 18 watts) and 2 tweed 1x12 cabinets with Jensen Special Designed speakers. It works...but pretty low output and it needs a servicing VERY badly. After doing some research it seems that these are pretty rare (probably due to the need for a stereo amp!!).
The one on the right is a Maestro GA-1RT. 1x8...probably about 8 watts?? Has Tremolo and reverb. Needs service too, but is a bit cleaner than the GA-88S. I think it will end up sounding pretty cool too.
We'll see what they sound like after a bit of "sprucing up"...they LOOK totally cool - old tweed!
